Buffalo Creek Art Center (Gardnerville, NV)
Buffalo Creek Art Center is a summer artist residency for three-dimensional artists in metal, wood, ceramic and multi- media with an emphasis on aesthetics and craftsmanship. Starting June 1 and ending October 30 artists can select a 4,6 or 8 week stay. Artists will be given free room and workspace and use of all the equipment. This 34-acre property includes a vineyard, fruit orchards, 10 ponds, a miniature train station and hiking trails. Artists will live in a four-bedroom ranch style house with separate bedrooms and a common kitchen. The 4000 square foot studio workshop will have all the necessary equipment for welding, wood carving, ceramics and other forms of three-dimensional work and room for large-scale sculptures. Flat Out Under Pressure (Greenville, SC)
The tenth annual Flat Out Under Pressure (FOUP), the Metropolitan Arts Council's program involving the visual arts and sound environmental practices in downtown Greenville, will be held June 19-20, 2020. With eight bins for paper, plastic and glass in various locations along Main Street, FOUP encourages recycling among pedestrians while creating a different exhibiting opportunity for visual artists. The event begins with a 24-hour art-making juried competition. The selected winners are then given the opportunity to choose two images of their work for reproduction on the bins. The winning artists also receive cash prizes and the 1st place winner is awarded a week-long trip to Italy for two to stay in the beautiful Villa Sant’ Andrea. On Friday, artists will come to MAC to get their surfaces officially stamped. The surfaces will be returned to MAC within 24 hours as works of art. The works will be juried that afternoon and the awards reception will be held on an evening in mid June. All submitted works will be displayed in the MAC Gallery. Deadline to apply is in May 2021. For the second year in a row, VGSC wants to feature an original work from a local regional artist on the cover. Artist Residency at Denali National Park (Alaska)
Denali is seeking a diverse suite of voices to help share the unique story and important messages of Denali through art. This year applicants should focus on the theme "Staying Safe with Wildlife." About a half-dozen accomplished artists, writers, and composers are invited by the park superintendent to spend ten days in Denali at their own expense the following winter or summer. Visits include a permit for limited access along the Denali Park Road and time alone at a historic ranger patrol cabin. During their residency, each participant is required to lead a public outreach activity with visitors. Artists may choose to donate finished work to the park. Deadline is in September 2021.
