Diann Simms Has a Distinctive Viewpoint
Diann Simms was born in Texas where her father was stationed with the Army Air Force prior to his going overseas during World War II. After the war she and her parents moved to Atlanta where her father was a pilot for Delta Airlines. Later the family moved to Detroit, Michigan, where her father became the chief pilot for Ford Motor Company and Henry Ford II’s personal pilot. Ann Heard ‘Abstracts the Normal’
Long-time Anderson Artists Guild member Ann Heard was born and raised in Anderson. After high school, on a double date, she heard about training at the hospital and ended up with a 34-year career in the microbiology section of the laboratory. Her job involved looking at petri dishes and identifying micro-organisms. “We added discs to an agar growth medium,” she said. “Each disc was treated separately with an antiobiotic.” The resulting interaction helped doctors to know which


Vicki Mountz Loves the Natural World
Growing up in northeastern Ohio, Anderson Artists Guild member Vicki Mountz loved the outdoors. She has many fond memories of fishing with her dad, as well as hunting, hiking, canoeing and kayaking. That passion has driven her ever since. At the University of Akron, she majored in criminal justice.
